We Bought a Zoo

I don’t know about you, but for myself, this movie speaks true to a dream that I have had since I was knee-high to a grasshopper.  I think it rings true if you are an animal lover and the thought about living, let alone owning a zoo would be magical.  I always wondered what it would be like if I hid somewhere and waited for the zoo to close, just what amazing  things I would see behind the scenes.

The thing that stands out for me with this movie, is, it’s a true story.  Yes there was some great parent that actually made the decision to take on the  responsibility of a zoo.  Benjamin Mee is played by Matt Damon, is widowed and left with his two children.  In the movie he just makes the decision to start house shopping, little did he know that his dream house would have a little different back yard than he was initially looking for.  Hey, some folks like gardening, and others like do -it-yourself landscaping.

It’s not all roses, and the family comes together at the end of the movie, learning and growing together.  Another cool thing about this flick, Cameron Crowe directed it, aka Jerry Maguire, Almost Famous, Say Anything, just to name a few.

I recommend this movie for kids and adults of all ages.  I watched it, and I fell in love with the story.  It warmed my heart, and since I had been waiting for months to see it, it was worth the wait.  We Bought a Zoo also helped me live vicariously through the family in my dream of one day owning a zoo.  Just goes to show, if you have the right intentions, and people there that love you, anything is possible.
